Please answer the following questions. Use complete sentences.

1. What was your topic? (example of an answer: My topic was learning to fly.)

2. What was your Essential Question? (example of an answer: My Essential Question was: What does it take for me to learn how to fly?

3. Please tell us what makes this an Essential Question? (example of an answer: This is an Essential Question since it asks me to find out what steps I would go through in learning to fly. Then I could decide if this was something I really want to do.)

4. Tell us one, or more, new facts that you uncovered in your research.

5. List what books were useful? (example: Learning to Fly for Young People, by Wing Walker)

6. What websites were useful? (example: URL – http://www.whyfly.org)

What else did you uncover?

Oh, good work!

Through the end of the trimester you have been focusing on a topic that interests you. This blog entry will look at part of the research process. The first part was to choose a topic that you like. Think about your topic. What problems did you have? Problems I had with my topic were……..

–an example: I chose Ice Hockey for my topic. The problem I had with this topic were that I already know everything about ice hockey so I couldn’t think of any questions.

You have filled out a K-W chart. Looking at your chart, please write about some part of your topic that you wanted to know more about. I wanted to know more about…….

–an example: I like Ice Hockey. I looked at my K-W chart and saw that I don’t know much about women’s ice hockey. I wonder if there will ever be a woman on an NHL team.

After deciding on two questions to research, you were asked to look in books and online to find answers. What kinds of resources were most helpful to you? The kinds of resources that were most helpful to me were…
