1. What was your topic? my topic was drag racing
2. What was your Essential Question? My Essential Question was: what does it take to become a drag racer?

4. Tell us one, or more, new facts that you uncovered in your research. I learned that some dragsters used nitromethane but it was banned but now there is a section called nitro funny cars and all of those cars use nitromethane

7. What else did you uncover? dragsters do a burnout to make the tires sticker and to heat them up

An essential question is a question that you can’t answer in 1 word or know it right off the bat. A fact about Will Smith: Will Smith started rapping as a hobby when he was 11. My topic was outer space. My essential question was how does the universe work. This is an essential question because it has not just one easy answer, it is lots of answers that are hard to find. One new fact I found out is that the universe’s orbit is made by a gravitational pull. A book that was really useful was “How the Universe works By Heather Couper and Nigel Henbest”. A website that was useful was http://teacher.scholastic.com/activities/exploration/space/. I had lots of fun researching all about space!

My topic was horses.
My essential question was what I have to do to feed a horse properly.. This make an essential question because its not something I already know and its not that easy for me to answer off the top of my head. Then I would know how much they eat and what they eat.
One fact that I didn’t know about horses before is that there are more than three hundred breeds in the whole world.
One of the books that was helpful to me is The Complete Encylopiedia of Horses an Ponies (Author unknown) I didn’t see any websites. I also uncovered they eat hay, barley, rolled oats and other things like that,

This is an Essential Question since it asks me find out the steps I would have to know to climb up Mt. Everest. Also I could see what people have made the climb and look up what they did before they climbed. and it is not a question that can be answered in one word. After I did some research, it would help decide if I would want to try and climgb it.

Some new facts I learned while researching were: it was formed over 60 MLLION years ago! WOW! Also the mountain was named after Sir George Everest who was the first person to record its height and location. But my favorite fact I learned was that the summit reaches about 20 Empire State buildings. :O

Some other things I learned was that before you go you need to get a physical and make sure you have VERY GOOD cardiac health. It was fun learning about Everest. I learned a lot. I hope you learned some new things too!

What else did you uncover?

My topic I am researching is Scuba Diving. I only found one book on my topic it is called Scuba Diving Underwater Adventuring by Hank Ketels ans Jack McDowell. My essential question is, How was scuba diving formed? I have this as my essential question because before I could skip right to my essential question I had to annswer some other questions before like, What was the first form of scuba diving? or, When was it first formed? I found out that the first form of scuba diving was called Skin Diving. There were no bathing siuts when this was invented and clothes would pull them down and drown them. When they did this they went naked. You would bring a bag that was made of leather and you would breath in them. After two breathes the air would turn to carbon dioxide.
I only found one book on my topic it is called Scuba Diving Underwater Adventuring by Hank Ketels ans Jack McDowell. I didn’t use any websites. Another way of scuba diving in the early ages was called Long Breathing tube Diving. In this technique you would still go naked but you would have a long tube that would go from your mouth to the suface. We are so lucky to have such great equitment these days!
