Through the end of the trimester you have been focusing on a topic that interests you. This blog entry will look at part of the research process. The first part was to choose a topic that you like. Think about your topic. What problems did you have? Problems I had with my topic were……..
–an example: I chose Ice Hockey for my topic. The problem I had with this topic were that I already know everything about ice hockey so I couldn’t think of any questions.

problems i had with my topic were i had a hard time finding out answers to my questions. it was hard because samoyed dogs are dogs that you never herd of before. i wanted to learn more about samoyed dogs because my family might get one and i wanted to learn what they like to do and if the are good with other pets.the kinds of resources that were most helpful to me were going to ask.com and getting a book about dogs.

Problems I had with my topic were: I couldn’t think of many questions, but luckily we got partners and my partner helped me think of some questions.
I wanted to know more about: I really wanted to know about the history of soccer, like I wanted to know about when soccer was invented.
The kinds of resources that were most helpful to me were: the wikipedia adn the Encyclopedia. I would use the Wikipedia and then I would use the Encylopedia (The book one). I would check everything in the Encylopedia because anyone can write on Wikipedia. So its not reliable.
Problems I had with my topic were: trying to find what my subject was. Trying to find good information. Trying to find good websites to find good information. Trying to make up good possibly reasonable questions.
I wanted to know more about what is the smallest dog and I wanted to know how to draw Anubis the half dog and half human with mostly all the details.

Problems I had with my topic were when I tried looking the Welsh Pony up on a search engine it came up as Welsh Ponies for sale.
I wanted to know more about how Welsh Ponies worked. I wondered how big the would get, and what colors they came in etc.
The kinds of resources that were most helpful to me were The Encyclopiedia of Horses & Ponies. I had all I needed to Know about every kind of horse or ponie.
I wanted to know more about kittens and cats because I love cats and have two at home!
A Problem I had with my topic was finding questions because I didn’t know much about my topic, but once I found out the answers to my beggining questions, I kept thinking of a whole bunch of different questions, or just really cool things!
I didn’t have any problems with my topic.

Problems I had with my topic were when I went to reaserch it it had topics that I didn’t want. It was hard to find the specific topic on what I was looking for.
I wanted to know more about when it origanated and stuff because I know all of the modern tennis world but never really focused on the olden days of tennis.
The kinds of resources that were most helpful to me were websites. Like say if I typed in FACTS ABOUT TENNIS I would find a lot of helpful webpages. Another one of the really helpful resources were the T section of encyclopedia in THE NEW BOOK OF KNOWLEDGE – ‘05 series.
My topic is on Ice hockey. I couldn’t learn as much as I thought I would because I couldn’t find a ton of books. What are some rules of hockey? Well you have to where a neck guard, mouth guard, helmet. Why do you need special skates, because you need some pricks on your skate blade and there padded.
Problems I had about my topic: it’s hard to find sites about my topic. I wanted to know more about the speed of dogs. The kind of resource that was most helpful to me is the world book.
My topic was crystal I chose it because I really like them and whant to know more about them

I wanted to know more about where soccer originated and who invented and how long soccer has been in America or in England.

Problems I had with my topic were…there are not a lot of books on the Periodic Table. I want to know more about the Elements on It. the resorse that helped me the most was the power of the internet and looking at the Pariodic Table itself.
My research topic was kittens & cats. Problems I had with my topic were: I couldn’t find books with answers to the questions I had. We found that some really helpful resources where encyclopidias, dogpile, ask.com and books.
We didn’t….. use any books other than the encyclopedia. The problems we had were….. that we had problems on websites like wikipedia. A solution was to look in the encyclopedia first.
One thing we could have done differently would be using the encyclopedia.

problems I had with my topic were that not many people know about platypuses, so the information on the internet was scarce.
I wanted to learn more about how the platypus evoled form other spieces.

I wanted to learn more about the violin. It is a type of instrument in the strings section. I wondered where the violin originated. I learned that it’s four strings are in a range of about 4 octaves, and when you pluck the strings it is called a pizzicato, the parts of the violin are usually made from wood, and that a light touch on the strings is called a harmonic.
