Research process response
All of you have finished an independent research project. In these projects there were several pieces that I expected to see: essential questions, original thinking, use of and citation of resources outside of prior knowledge.
What was the easiest part and what was the most difficult? If you could change one thing, what would you change? Please use complete sentences.
The easiest part was finding the sources. The hardest part was probaly finding books for the project, actually it was so hard to fing books that we could not find any at all. If there was anything i would do diferently is: NOTHING !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I think the easiest part was when we had to gather facts. I had a very easy time looking through the book because it was a book focused only on Mia. I think that the hardest part was putting the little peices in the plastic thing. I had a lot of fun. I would change the process of writing on all of the different peices of paper. I think that we shouldn’t have to do so many drafts.
Talk to you later,
Katherine
I think that it was pretty easy for me. My EQ was How Do You Write A Letter To Your favorite Author? I didn’t ned books or websites so that made it really easy for me. Even thouugh I used Eva Ibbotson as an example I only went on the web to get pictures of her. I don’t think that I would change anything because it was so easy. I don’t think that any of it was to difficult.
Cordelia
The easiest part of the whole thing was making the power point and the hardest thing was getting as much info as you can off the internet and books. Something that I would like to change is that the title has to be a question. If that changed that would be a lot easier to give people information. It would be a lot better because it wouldn’t take it as much off topic as it does with the question title.
For me, the easiest part was finding cool facts, and cute pictures of the breed of dog I was researching! The hardest part, I found was the research, it dragged out too long, and I think the whole process took a little longer than it needed to. I had a lot of fun seeing the final outcome, and I loved being able to say to myself, “I did that, I did that!!!!”
I think the easiest part was putting the project togather because all we had to do is take the information we got and put type it to sound good. I thought the hardest part was getting the research because their wasn’t that much information on the bunnies. I stil thought it was fun working with my friend Jane!
I thought the reasrch project was very fun! I liked how we worked in partners and how we go to choose the topic. It was interesting learning about rabbits, how to l take care of them and if they are a good pet for me. I think the hadest part was puting the information in the 6-fold. Overall it was a great way to learn about rabbits!
I would say the most hardest would be looking up info. on google and finding the one you need. They easyest would be… finding pictures on the indernet or finding things you need in a book. I wouldnt change anything
Well, it wasn’t that hard because Noah and I already knew a lot. Making the scrpt was fun, because we used a lot of humor in it. The mp3 player was probably the hardest part and it would be harder if Noah didn’t know so much about electronics. We never knew when it was loud enough and it took us a lot of trials. Once we downloaded it on a computer and heard it I was very satisfied. I was pretty proud of our project. -Graham M.
it was hard to research foot ball, their were very few things to use,the hardest part was typing.
Hi! when I was doing my reaserch project the easiest part of it for me was typing it out. The most dificult part for me was to gather all of the research. If I could change anything I would not change it because I thought that it was really fun and it was interesting to learn new stuff about your subect that you were reserching. I also liked how you had so many choices of how you could do your project!
I liked the research project a lot because you got to find out a lot about your subject, which mine was boxers ( the dog). It was fun doing a powerpoint. The next time I do a project like this I would definately like to do a powerpoint. The hardest thing about the research project was the actual research. It was sort of difficult finding good information. Besides that, I would love to do a project like that any day.
Isabel, Liza and I did a PowerPoint together on nature. We had lots of fun and got to know each other better. Now you wouldn’t believe how great of friends we are! The hardest part about our project was actually the reasearching part and finding good and interesting information. Actually, the whole PowerPoint, itself was my favorite part and it didn’t seem too hard! Isabel’s favorite part was making the slides with my friends! Liza’s favorite part was making the PowerPoint also and we were all so glad to do it together! We thought that part was probably the easiest!! If we went back to change something about our project we would make it a little longer with even more esential questions with much more info. Although we would change that, we are really happy with the way it turned out and we are proud of all of our wonderful work. We are really glad we chose to do a project on nature and we even learned a lot ourselves! Thank you!
Isabel Abby and I did a powerpiont about Nature. It was really fun doing it with them and I think that my farorite part was making the powerpiont itself! If I was to go back and do it agian the thing I would change would be not having to cite my sources even though it is required I don’t really like doing it. I would say the hardest part about the project was finding the right reaserch and being sure the website was accurate. I really liked the project. thank you!
-Liza
I thought it was fun but also hard because there is so much information to have and you can’t get it all.
I thought that the computer work was the easiest. If I could change something I would change the time we have to do it.
Tyler, would you like more time or less time? Mrs. B.
I thought it was easy to research and getting votes on favorite QB/ Quarter back. The hardest part was adding sound into our power point and have it keep on going through the whole powerpoint. I wouldn’t change anything actually.
I’m glad you liked putting sound with your PPT although it was not a part of the project. As we talked about in class, the purpose of the project was to develop a good “Essential Question”, Locate and Use information, Synthesize our found information, and cite our sources. I hope that you were able to do that in addition to the great music. Mrs. B.
in liabary I made a powerpoint on football. it was really fun. I liked to find info. and then to put it together. The easiest part was putting the info. together because then you get to do what ever you want with the powerpoint like adding a song or voice to the powerpoint. It is like your own thing. The hardest thing is getting info that you think other people might find intresting or might draw the persons attention. I would change on how you can only have 3 people to a group and have a 4th person to a group if the person was left out or something like that.
Great thoughtful comments Matt. Mrs. B.
First of all, I had fun working on the research projects. I think the easiest part of the research is probably the research! Lots of websites and books had accurate info. The hardest part of the research was the powerpoint. It wouldn’t cooperate with me! The good news is finally at the end I got it right and perfect. If I could change something about the research it would probably be to have more choices on what to do. I think I’m very comfortable on finding resources on the internet and books!
I saw you making good choices for information and for work. Mrs. B.
The hardest part of my project was getting the power point together. Other than that, I thought it was pretty easy but, really fun. If i could change one thing it would be nothing. I think i was fun and hard enough that it would take kind of long.
I thought this was a very easy project because, with a topic like mine, there are sources everywhere. I wouldn’t believe if there was no information on the top 5 most valuable paintings ever bought.
Hi David, glad you found everything very well. It shows that you are able to ask a good “Essential Questions” and locate and use information. How good to have success. Mrs. B.
I thought the project was good because we got to choose any subject we wanted.
I think the research was very fun because it was intersting for me to learn about a lizard I didn’t know much about, But now it has made me consider getting one as a pet! I don’t know if I could take care of it and play with him alot because I already have a bird and a bunny. So I might get one when I go to college. Hi Ethan, I learned a lot about lizards as well. Thank you for taking such an interest in a subject that was new to you. Great learning! Mrs. B.
The research project was the funnest thing we did so far in library. My favorite part was being independent and choosing what we wanted to study. I learned a lot about netherland dwarf rabbits, and I already have one at home. I thought that the powerpoint was really awsome because it was very quick and easy. That was a really fun project. I really loved this project. Great Emily! You did well in writing an “Essential Question” and in answering your question. I learned about Netherland Dwarf Rabbits and we used to have one at my house! Mrs. B.
for me, the hardest part was skimming the book to get information. The easiest part was typing. I know what you mean, Nate. This is a good time to remember the text features that we talked about for books, newspapers, magazines, and websites. You picked a subject that meant you needed to read a great deal of words to pull together your information. It is always ok to redefine your “Essential Question” if you discover that you are having difficulty. Overall, you picked an interesting topic and I’m glad to know you really like the Warriors books. Mrs. B.
The easiest thing was sighting my sources. The hardest thing was writting my story. In my opinion the most fun thing of all was finding the pictures
From Brendan.M
Hi Brendan, you are so lucky! Many people don’t like to CITE their sources and they don’t like to write either. It is always fun to find pictures and there is much to be learned from looking at pictures closely. In the Material World pictures there is a great deal to be discovered! Now that I am older, I like writing and I even enjoy citing my sources. You picked some great pictures for your project. Thanks, Mrs. B.
The easiest part of the reasearch, was typing the facts on the computer for the presentation. The hardest part was getting the facts, because I had a tough time trying to put everything in order and finding the facts. If I could change something, then it would be, putting in more pictures, for the presentation. Also thank you Mrs. B for helping me with this project, I really thank you for that.
THANK YOU MRS. B!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! You’re welcome Dylan. I know that organizing information can be difficult. Librarians like to organize things, that’s one way we can be helpful. Mrs. B.
The easiest part of the project we did was creating the power point because It was fun and we had a great time making it. The most difficult thing was finding all the research on Tom Brady because we had to go to a few different web sites. Plus we had to print a few pages on him to to help us. I discovered a lot on Tom Brady but the one thing I would change is the slides we did because I would like to change them up a bit. But thanks to Mrs. B. our project got done and she really liked it.
Joel, research isn’t always easy, is it? To do well, we often need to go to many resources. You made an important and useful discovery. Mrs. B.
I think my favorite part was actually making the powerpoint. But I liked finding the pictures of border collies. My least favorite thing was that when I was working at home it’s like a different server so I have to redu everything I did in library class.
I’m glad to hear that you did some work at home without being asked to do so. It is hard when you need to redo things, but then you usually know the subject really well by the time you are finished. What would you like to change about the project? Mrs. B.
I thought the easiest part of this experience was finding websites, and pictures of the dog breed I was reserching. The hardest part was taking down notes and then putting the power point together. If I did something differently I would probably give us a little less time to make us focus more and get more work done. Overall I had a blast doing it!
I enjoyed seeing your progress Mary. Mrs. B.
The easiest part for me was when we had to gather information because I found one website and got most of my information off of that. The hardest part for me was putting my pictures in the 6 fold. I couldn’t get them in the fold and to have it look nice. If I got to change one thing it would be to make a power point. But, I am happy with my work that I have done!!:)
Talk to you later,
Leika S.
Hi Leika, I’m glad you were lucky to find one site with all your information needs. It’s always good to double check your information with another source. It’s good to make sure that what you found out is really true. Good work! Mrs. B.
Hi I think the easiest thing to do was to type the project out. I think the hardest thing was to get the research on youre essential topic. If I could change one thing I would change that you don’t have to have a question because then it makes it harder to research. If you can’t find anything on your topic it makes it harder to reaserch. Also I liked the project a lot.
Sincerly
sarah B
Hi Sarah, You are so correct when you comment that having an essential question can make research hard, but it can also make looking for information easier too. Having a good essential question helps you to decide what is important and what is not important info. Then, when you can’t find anything, you know it is time to ask for help. I liked seeing your completed project a lot as well.
Mrs. B.
The easiest thing for me was finding the pictures. The hardest thing for me was writing in english. I would get different pictures if I could change my project.
Hyewan, I really liked the way you worked with your partner. I liked the pictures you chose for your poster. You are practicing your English and are improving every day. Thank you for being a part of our class, Mrs. B.
The easiest thing for me was typing and finding information. The hardest thing for me was doing the tennis net. I would change the net to make it look more real.
Mike, I thought that you and Madison addressed the issue of making the net really well. You collected information, you created an interesting “poster” and you asked for help when needed.
Mrs. B.
The easiest thing for me was making the title. The hardest thing for me was making the paragraphs. Something I would have changed is the the lines. I would have used scrap paper.
I think that your information and your interest in the subject were both very important. Madison, you did that very well. I know the net part of your presentation was difficult, but sometimes good things take more time.
Mrs. B.
The easiest thing that I did during the project was typing. The hardiest thing that I did for this project, was finding the information and the Korean words. The thing I would change is doing more to help with the project on South Korea. What I would change is me asking for help when I need it and help a little bit more with projects about different countries.
I am glad that you learned to ask for help right away. Using good resources and asking for help are two important parts of library skills and life. Enjoy them both.
Mrs. B.
I ended up redoing part of my project. I also researched a lot about the warrior series and their books. To find out the names of the books I went on a special website. That told me the books in the second and first series. I used google to get my pics. Blog date 5/25/07
Hi! I really enjoyed this project becuase I thought my topic was really interesting! The easiest part was writing down info and the hardest parts were finding a resource and narrowing down my infomation. I wouldn’t change the project because I thought it was a lot of fun!
Your topic was very interesting and I believe you learned a great deal more than you know. You will find that finding good resources and pulling information together are two great skills for the library and for life. We have had a great time learning this.
Mrs. B.
Mrs B
HI I just wanted to say that I really liked this project. I found most of my stuff off the internet. Or I just pulled it out of my head because I own 8 Bantam. I did my poster on bantams. I think you should do it again next year. But don’t let people use so much music. The people would be done by now but they’re not because they used so much music and talked so much.
Good point Gretchen. I know I told everyone that music and transitions were not important. Thanks for your note and for your informative presentation on chickens.
Mrs. B.
The easyest part was pulling the information together and putting it on our poster. The hardest part was finding enough informating.
The easyest part was glueing the facts and pictures on. The hardest part was reaserching. If I could change on thing i wouldn’t change a thing.
Mrs. B,
I think the easyest part was putting the pictures in the tri-fold and the hardest was getting the information. I think people should work alone because some partners didn’t do anything
Sincerely, rahul
dear, Mrs.B
the best part of reaserch was that I learned that there are more then 110 breeds of horses world, so yeah that was fun to learn about but while I was looking for pictures I ssy alot of mixed breeds , but I reaserched the breeds first and I also saw pictures of them so it was fun to try to name the breeds. I had alot of fun reaserching about horses!!.
Lola R.
I think the easiest part was putting it together on the computer because I had all my facts and I found some really good pictures. I think the hardest part was getting the resourses because there was only two books in the library on meteors. If I could change something I would restrict somethings about what people could do because some things seemed like people didn’t do much reasearch and only used prior knowledge.
Hi, I thought this project we had to do was very easy to put together but hard to find facts for our ways of supporting the essential question. The easiest part of the project was finding the places to get our info because we had a sports-based project. The hardest thing was bios on the two players we researched(Anquan Boldin and Larry Fitzgerald). If I could change anything it would be making the project more interesting to the kids that didn’t understand some of the facts and opinions we provided.
The easiest part of the project was presenting it. I knew that the presenting would be fun and easy when I started the project. It was hard to find Bio’s because there were not many sites with them. I would have made more interesting to the kids who don’t understant football.
I realy liked the project and I wouldn’t change any thing major it was not to long or to short perfect! But next year you might want not to have twogroups doing it about football or something. I never new alot about wolves before but not I’m an expert, it’s like beforee and after pictures.
I learned a lot about South Korea. Like what they eat and how many days the go to school also how many months they go to school in the summer. I learned that they celebrate childrens day in may and a lot more holidays in may. On the poster we put the differences and the sames of both countries. I had a lot of fun with Hye wan and learning about the place she came from South Korea!!!!;)
It was fun. The easiest part was doing the research. The hardest part was spelling things right. I would change the amount of research I did- I found I needed more bits of information.:)
I love reaserch it’s so fun and u learn a lot about different things. One time I got 15 pages of my favorite poet Long Fellow. So I was so happy that this year I was doing a lot of reaserch. This prodject was so fun I wish I could do more in library.
Hi when I was researching it wasn’t that hard because i had some help from Mrs. B and Mrs. Hall-Riddle . I also thank them for being so nice and for helping me and I say they are the best library teacher i’d have and when i was searching i didn’t look in the books that much i mostly look search on the computer because there was no books on Ciara. Will that my speach see yu later write back Mrs. B
Love, Socheata C.
I know! It was a lot of fun working with you, too.
Mrs. B.
I liked reserching aliens. I think the hardest part was finding a good alien website, but I found a really good one. (URL: http://www.alien-ufo-pictures.com) The easiest part was finding alien pictures. You’d be surprised about how many people like aliens.yay.
Hi Halsey, I know! Aren’t aliens interesting? I really wonder about people from other planets. Where did we come from anyway? What I notice is that research on topics that are interesting to us is easy, whereas when we have a topic that’s not so interesting it may be a bit less fun. It was a pleasure hearing about aliens.
Mrs. B.
The easiest part to me, was presenting my project to my class. sharing my recently learned knowedge was not nerve - wracking whatsoever. The most challenging part from my perspective was writing in my own words. The tempation was there to just copy down eveything from the site or book. I was satisfied with the results of my project over all.
@j
I know, writing stuff in your own words is often difficult. It will get easier the more you practice writing. It does not need to be perfect, so let that one go!.
Mrs. B.
For my research I did Great Quarterbacks. The easiest thing about my research project was finding my information, because everything I needed was right there for me. The hardest part was putting it all together like cutting and pasting it on my poster. Next time I would not put so many pictures on my poster beacause I felt the focus was mostly on the pictures.
I liked researching because we got to pick the topic. I think that doing a poster was very easy and that it was fun to get pictures of baseball players and comparing them of how good they are.
Dear Mrs B,
I loved this project it was so much fun to do.There were so much facts to learn. I did my project on hamsters with Stephanie. It was so much fun to learn everything about hamsters. The most interesting fact about hamsters that I learned was that they blink one eye at a time! The project made me think about telling all the thing I learned to my mom to try to talk her into letting me get a hamster. She does not like hamsters or any small animals that are rodents. But I love them. The eastiest part about this project was to research online. But it was harder to research with a book. Thank You for reading my blog.
By Leanne
Hello Mrs.B ,
I Liked this project because I did it with Leanne and it was on hamsters. I also enjoyed researching about all the different kinds of cute little hamsters. I thought the easest part about the project was presenting it was fun to stand up in frount of the class and telling about little hamsters. I like the dwarf hamsters the best because they are little and gray and white. It helped with are project since my little sister has a hamster it’s name is Libby.
~ Stephanie S.
Hi Stephanie,
Maybe you’ll be able to convince Leanne’s mom that she should be able to have a hamster.
Mrs. B.
The research was easy well for me because we found one website and that had all the information we needed thanks a lot for the reseach tips. I would change going to Wikipedia, because you don’t know it it’s true or not. You can look at another website to see if Wikipedia’s info is true.
This project was really fun. It helps people to learn about new subjects and enjoy doing it. I think the easiest part was finding the sources. The hardest part was finding all the information. Pirates are a tough subject!:) I might have done a powerpoint instead of a six-pod. You have to cut and print out all the pictures and then paste them on.
Great comment Nick! I really enjoyed learning about pirates.
Mrs. B.
I researched Lebron James the best small forward in the NBA right now. Finding the infomation was easy and finding the pictures too. The hardest part in my opinon was putting in the pictures and the information in the six fold.
Hi Mathew, your research on LJ. I was listening to NPR recently and was pleased to have learned about him from your report. I hope you continue to expand your searching ability beyond just google. It will make your research better.
Mrs. B.
I think the project was fun. Every one loved my jerk chicken. What was hard: having to find the right information. What was easy: making the jerk chicken. What did you learn? There aren’t a lot of places to get Jerk chicken in Maine, I learned how to evaluate recipes from the internet.
Good work Rachel, I enjoyed the jerk chicken and I may make some for my family sometime.
Mrs. B.
I have had a Great time in Libary Mrs. B and thanks for all the help on our Tom Brady power point we couldn’t have done it without your help. Also I have had a great time in researching and playing the kidnapping game it was a blast and i don’t want to leave school because have so much fun in it with m friends thanks again Mrs. B!!!!!!
Hi Joel, it was a blast having you in class too! I hope that when you have research to do in the 6th grade you’ll ask the librarians for help. We are always glad to lend a hand.
Mrs. B.
I agree with Noah P. I think that finding books for my project was hard. I only found one book and well, it didn’t really help. I basically just used the wonderful world of well, the one they only, INTERNET! p.s. I can’t wait for summer!
Hi Noah L., it was great hearing all about the Wii. I learned that I might enjoy playing it! Your subject is certainly one for using the internet, not books. I hope you read a few books for fun over the summer - in between playing Wii.
Mrs. B.
The easiest thing for my was finding information and making the poster. The hardest thing was thinking of a title and finding picters. I wouldn’t change a thing.
Hi Jade, I liked the way you worked with Aaron and the information that you gathered.
Mrs. B.
I thought the easiest partof research was taking info from books. The hard part was turning that information into a paragraph and put it in writing. I would have had more options that the project culd be written on.
The easiest part about the book project was writing it on the computer after you found the notes. The difficult part of the book project was finding the info on the computer and the books. Also thank you so much for helping me with writing on the computer.
Maeve
Hi Maeve,
Thanks for writing about what was easiest and the hardest parts of research. Sometimes finding information can be difficult and we have a lot of reading to do. Keep working on your reading by reading a lot of books this summer. Believe me, your reading will improve!
Have a great summer!
Mrs. B.
The easiest thing for me was looking for the information. The part that was the most difficult for me was getting it out on the computer and I wouldn’t change anything.
Thanks for writing those excellent sentences. I know it can be difficult putting your words down on paper - even if there is no real paper. Have a wonderful summer!
Mrs. B.
Mrs. B,
The easiest thing in the research project in my opinoin is finding the info.
I would change the fact that there is a short time period that we have to do the whole project.
I liked the fact that we had a lot of choices. Like we could do a poster, a power point project, a tri-fold, and a lot of other choices.
Hi Elena,
I know that it seemed like not much time, but for others it was too much time. I tried to hit the middle ground. Pulling information together is sometimes difficult. Sometimes we are easily distracted. As you grow up, you will need to decide what information needs you have and how you are going to address them. Since we are all different, then what works for one person may not be the same as what works for you. Keep reading this summer!
Mrs. B.
Mrs.Becksvoort, This subject was not easy!!! The hardest part for me was finding the information. But I worked it out and found out the answers for the questions. It was really hard but so much fun! The easiest part was going to websiites and finding the answers.
Shane, you did great though! I hope you do a lot of reading over the summer. Ask your parents to take you to the public library http://www.falmouth.lib.me.us/ for some more books. Wow! Maybe I’ll see you at the Mugglefest in Portland! We can go in costume. http://www.mugglefest.org/index.shtml
Have a great summer!
Mrs. B.
